Free Credit Check Options
You do not need to pay to see your credit reports or get basic monitoring. Here are the legitimate free resources that actually work.
AnnualCreditReport.com
The only federally authorized source for free weekly credit reports from all three bureaus — Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. Run by the three bureaus together. No credit card required.
Experian Free Tier
Experian offers a free account with monthly Experian credit report updates, FICO Score 8, and basic credit monitoring alerts. Upgrades are available, but the free plan covers the basics.
Credit Karma
Free TransUnion and Equifax VantageScore 3.0 scores, weekly updates, and credit monitoring alerts. Credit Karma makes money by recommending products, but the core scores and reports are free.
Credit Sesame
Free monthly TransUnion VantageScore, credit monitoring, and identity theft protection basics. Like Credit Karma, it earns from product recommendations, but the monitoring is genuinely free.
Your Bank or Credit Card
Many banks, credit unions, and card issuers now include free FICO scores and basic credit monitoring as a customer benefit. Check your online banking dashboard — it may already be there.
